Still leaks, what is next step. Plumber estimate $3500.00 which is not going to happen. What can I do?

is the shower above fairly new? you may have something as simple as the drain being loose in your up stairs shower it could be a number of things and maybe something very minor. what i would do it dump a couple of pails of water down the drain of the upstairs shower and see if it leaks. if that solves nothing then plug the drain and run the water. if it is a leak in the pipe upstairs most of the time it would leak when the shower is off or on. it could be loose tiles or caulking. unless the plumber opened up the walls and had a look how can he or she say the estimate is $3500. if it was me i would call in atleast 2 more plumbers and ask them to check the drain i have know of them to come loose . it just amazes me how trades like plumbers just throw out a number like that when they have no clue what the problem is.

who would help joe the plumber?

Posted by admin On January - 17 - 2009

Do you think in your opinion either obama or McCain can help Joe the Plumber .
On second thought ,I don’t believe Joe the Plumber is an average American — $250,000 a year?! A man and his wife, both college educated with master’s degrees, struggle to make $77,000 annually combined. $250,000 IS rich.Joe is no ordinary plumber! hallo from Kenya

Joe the plumber can help himself. If he employs people, they are his responsibility, and if he cannot rise to that responsibility, then it does not say much about him.

Drinking Water Filters - And Why We Need Them

Posted by admin On January - 14 - 2009

In an ironic twist of fate, whilst many of us (parents and health professionals alike) criticize the children of our generations for their copious consumption of carbonated soda drinks, the alternative that we hold up as the poster child for good health, tap water is far from healthy. Tap water today is treated with a number of different and potentially dangerous chemicals, which are used to purify the water of various bacteria and germs and so rather than actually cleaning the water, we end up replacing one set of potential and actual problems, for another. This is…

If i flush my master bathroom toilet while the shower is running, it will cause the shower to drain VERY slow and cause the toilet to sometimes overflow. Also, when the shower is running, the toilet will make a "gurgling" kinda noise like air bubbles are coming up through the toilet. What can i do to fix this without calling a plumber?

While it is possible that it is a clog, I think it is a venting problem. Drainlines need air to work properly. The air is supplied through the vent pipe (the pipe that exits out the roof). If the vent is clogged (leaves, birdsnests etc) the system cannot get air so it sucks water out of the traps of other fixtures which causes bubbling. If you can safely get onto the roof, check the vent with a flashlight. If you see anyything blocking it, remove all you can by hand and then flush with a garden hose. You may have 2 problems. A clogged drain and a vent problem. Vent problems do not usually cause back-ups.

Strathmoor Project - Plumbing Project

Posted by admin On January - 13 - 2009

George the Master Plumber is walking me through the details of the plumbing job for my master bath upstairs. I paid him to help me understand what needed to be done and how to do it… and then I followed his directions and had a lot of fun along the way. George walked me through the whole project, and then I recorded him so that I could review it if I had any problems. At the end of the clip, we are talking about how to vent the 3 inch main vent pipe. The hole in the roof from the previous vent pipe is where I actually installed the shower skylight (the 3rd skylight in the bathroom.) George is a good man. Thanks George. August 18th, 2008.
