You can purchase a service wherein a plumber type comes out, cleans your main line drain with a rotor blade, then runs a small video camera through the house lateral line down to the main sewer line in the street. It makes a video of the inside of your sewer pipes and let you see if there are leaks and damaged areas and so on.
If you know about this let me know if you think it worked well for you and was worth the cost, roughly what you paid and any cautions or things I might need to be aware of etc.? Thanx!
the reason I ask the question is that I have a rather wet crawl space where the sewer lines come out of the house and go into the ground. No apparent leaks under the house where I can see the waste line enter the ground but because the ground is so damp I wonder if the pipes in the ground/below ground level are leaking sewage? I don't notice any smell or evidence of sewage but I have no way of really knowing if the dampness is from the waste lines. The other supply lines are all intact. No evidence of leaks there.
Unless you have problems with your sewer line, its a waste of money!!
Sure, anyone can give you a "service contract" for just about everything under the sun.
Do you "need" it? NO! Unless you are a Resturant, with a lot of grease going down the drain..(and if you do, I would wonder why, you dont have a grease trap), or some industrial plant.
A modern home owner only needs to do this once, and thats only if he has problems with his sewer lines.
I worked at a Waste Water Plant, as a turn operator for 26 years, so, I know about cameras and how we scoped them through the sewer lines. Great if you have trouble, but, unnecesary if you dont.

I had a plumber in to service my instant water heater and since then the pipes produce a “knocking” sound when the taps are used (hot & cold), I do not want to call him back, he was a nightmare of a worker, can anyone suggest a cure for my problem. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you turn down the water pressure at the main stop tap and check if it stops.
