Whats the cheapest way to renovate a house? DIY is out of the question.?
I am renovating an old school into a house, I’m just after some tips and advice on some inexpensive yet effective ways to renovate. Basically I’m building a new house apart from the roof and the floor, all new structure, electrical and plumbing etc.
well then if DIY is out of the mix, then the second best way is, get a subscription to Angies list if you plan on using all contractors and categorize what you want to do by what can be accomplished in each season (if you forsee it taking longer than a couple of months). Than get rolling. I really would suggest DIY as a lot of it can be intimidating, but the end product and skills you will learn far outweigh the learning curve

Skilled Polish workers - swear by them (Applies if you are in the UK)
But hire a qualified Project Manger/Engineer to manage the project.

search your local areas for second’s materials or second hand building material’s, auction houses. Instead of building new internal walls you could get some second hand office partitions instead as some have the wiring and power points installed internally, they can come in all different sizes. Seek and ask some demolition companies for stuff such as cupboards for the kitchen or for wardrobes etc etc Good luck in renovating your new place

The only advice i could offer is buy all the material you can yourself, im not talking about structural timber or things like that. More the tap fittings or light fittings etc. Firstly you get what you want, secondly contractors can’t bump up the price on individual items if they supply them. Also never pay an hourly rate, always quote and compare.
