this is not …
this is not accurate information. the easiest way is to go thru the overflow on the tub. Removing the tub drain embly is very difficult and could be difficult to put back in place if it becomes mis aligned.

A suggestion for getting the drain embly out. Put your screwdiver in the mouth of the pliers if it will fit, or between the legs of the handle and use it for leverage to apply radial pressure.

why wouldn’t you just pull off the overflow?? Work smarter not harder! The overflow drops staight into the trap and makes it alot easier since 90 percent of btub blockages are after the trap.
