Are we supposed to ignore what Obama told “Joe the Plumber” just because Joe has no plumbers’ license?
Are Obama’s “spread the wealth” comments supposed to be ignored now — simply because it turns out that Joe the Plumber doesn’t actually have a plumbers’ license?
The focus should not be on Joe’s lack of a license, or even on his back taxes.
The focus should be on WHAT OBAMA SAID TO HIM.
What — do Obama’s words somehow “not count” now that we know that Joe has no license and owes back taxes?
.
That’s the strategy Obama and the media are using. But I think ’spread the wealth’ is going to stick with Americans. What a thing to say — he actually admitted it.
Talk soon,
Joe Beaven

No, you are correct, it is a distraction but the argument holds true. You don’t need a plumber’s licence to own a business. Just the plumbers.

The US’s graduated income tax is meant to do just that : spread the wealth around a little. That is called trickle down. A little money from the wealth trickles down to the not so rich.

the focus should NOT be on joe PERIOD. this has become such a big deal and it’s really not. why can’t we ever focus on the issues. none of the issues talked about even relate to joe. first off, as you said, he’s not even a plumber to begin with. second of all, an average citizen in the u.s. does not come close to making 250k a year, especially when he’s supposedly a “plumber”

Nice Spin Jen. I'm not completely sure that "Joe"(if that's really his name) wasn't hired by the McCain campaign to throw him off. CNN and Fact check have already debunked his "your going to tax me claims". Under Obama's plan he would only be taxed at a higher rate if his INCOME was more than 250K a year, not his Business revenue. Please, Please educate yourself. That is all.
References :
Again, most Buisness owners do not make 250K as PURE profit, hence 95% of the population doesn't make 250K in revenue.

It was Mccain that put this guy out there as a typical struggler without vetting him.
Now when we find out
1. He has a tax bill out there
2. He has unpaid medical bills
3. He is not complying with local county regulations
4. If he did own the company he would pay lower taxes on Obama's plan than McCain's
you want to ignore all the facts and instead concentrate on a sound bite. This guy is a living example of the majority of people who will be better served by Obama's policies than McCain's yet you put him forward, not us.

No, we should pay attention to what Obama said. He honestly proclaimed that he would not raise taxes on businesses making $250,000 or less. And he is going to raise taxes on companies who are successful and making more than $250,000 per year by about 3%. Let’s list all of the facts…not just the little parts that make it look like a bad plan. It will benefit a lot of people, as the majority makes less than $250,000 per year.

Seriously.. Our country is the way it is because people are just thinking of themselves and being greedy. If we do not do something soon our economy will fail, social security will no longer be available, and lots of jobs that depend on taxes will not be there anymore. We can’t tax the middle class anymore they are already suffering and struggling enough. The only alternative is for the rich to give a little cause they will still be absolutely fine.

They are simply using lib strategy. Cast dispersions and make counter accusations. It’s an attempt to divert from the real issue. Obama made the worst mistake he possibly could and they’re doing damage control. That’s the way liberals are, dodge the real problem and create another. They’re to stupid to realize that what they did in this situation has cost them heavily.

It’s a classic trick — try to hide what Obama actually said amid all the clutter about Joe. Make HIM the main story line rather than Obama’s slip. Continue for a few days. Then shut off future questions by saying: “That’s already been dealt with. We need to move on to the serious issues of this campaign. What we should be talking about are health care for kids in this country… blah ..blah.. blah..”

J.J. Walker Says:
First let me explain something to the democrats who want to tear into Joe.
Joe does not own a plumbing business. Joe works for a plumbing business and wishes to purchase his own.
The company Joe works for would carry the license IF it were needed. The fact is, the company only needs to have a business license. This is plumbing not electrical work where certifications are needed because of fire regulations. Plumbing is a trade but not something that is mastered as electricians are required to be.
Obama got b.i.t.c.h. slapped by Joe the plumber yesterday and will not admit it. Maybe Joe should debate Obama before election day.
Obama’s camp has gone from insulting Hillary to picking apart Palin and even slandering her children and now they are going after people on the street.
The liberal media is potraying Joe the plumber as a republican plant but cannot explain why Obama just happened to show up in this guys side yard.
Maybe had Obama offered Joe a tall glass of Kool-aid he might not have exposed Obama as a socialist.

No. It is still valid.
Obama spewed words to Joe, the Plumber, that he had learned from studying the teachings of Saul Alinsky, an infamous radical Marxist from the 1930’s-1972. The basic theory being to pander to the middle class, as the poor class has no power, which Obama has been hitting on for sometime now. The end result is to redistribute the wealth, which is the radical thinking of a Socialist/Marxist/Communist, taking from the richer and giving to the poorer.. This is the opposite of what makes America great. We live in a Capitalistic Society, where people can achieve the American Dream. Yes, the focus should be on what Obama said to Joe.
Obama’s words do count and before people pull that lever on election day, stop for a moment and decide whether you want McCain and Capitalism or Obama and Socialism/Marxism/Communism. One stands for real change, but is it a change you can live with? You decide.

Your right! I wish everyone would really look closely at what Obama said to him — ALL of it. ALL SIX MINUTES OF IT.
And then think about what kind of person would have the courage to talk for six minutes to a guy whose very looks must have made it clear to Obama that he almost certainly was NOT a supporter?
Would McCain have done that? Would PALIN???
Yes, folks, listen to the entire conversation.
And, btw, here is the very, very best comment I have read on the subject of “Joe the Plumber”: Whoever Joe the plumber actually turns out to be, the Republican penchant for creating condescending stereotypes for the people they pretend to serve, shows their arrogance toward those very people. ‘Joe-sixpack’, ’soccer-mom’, ‘Joe-the-plumber’… How sad that they do not see their fellow humans as three-dimensional, unique individuals. - Arye Michael Bender -

I really do not remember Obama personally making negative comments but the fact that Joe does not have a plumbers’ license really does not matter in this case.
The thing that the media does not put out there is that even if Joe bought the business and made over 250,000 he would pay taxes on much less because he can deduct all expenses. This would include mileage, inventory, wages paid to helpers, insurance, union dues, license fees, city permits, the list goes on and on. Then after all those business deductions he would still have his personal deductions. It would be my bet that he would still be quite a bit under 250,000.
