He works for a licensed plumber under that master license as many plumbers do and he did pay income taxes. The back tax issue was a surprise to him and I believe it was not income taxes but rather some property tax issue.

To actually answer your question, and not run off into a tangent as some have, the answer is that he does not have a license and he does owe taxes. That is on the record at the county courthouse.
I have gotten two thumbs down for the simple truth without spin or comment, so let me now say this, he couldn't afford the company, its not for sale, he will make out better taxwise with Obamas plan, Obama was polite and spent some five minutes with Joe, carefully explaining everything, with Joe asking questions all along, and Obamas much misrepresented 'spread the wealth' had to do with consumerism, a capitalist concept, not spreading the middle class wealth to the upper income levels as is the foundation of the trickle down theory.
If we don't buy, spend, and invest in America, there will be no wealth, not even for top level earners. We need to be aware of the fact that if wealth isn't spread, it simply sits in someone elses pocket. Not a healthy capitalist idea.

Your dad is right, McCain said he was a 15 year plumber, worked 12 hr, 6 day weeks, saved up over all those years to buy the buisness that makes 250000 a.year.
Turns out he does not even have a licence, made 40000 last year, and does not even pay the 1200 he owes in taxes. In other words he is a fraud, a perfect poster boy for the GOP.

He has said he does not have a license, but in his state a license is not required for the job he has. He is almost finished with the courses required to obtain a license so he can purchase the business he hopes to.
The taxes he owes are property taxes — not income taxes. He has stated that he was unaware of the taxes as bills are not sent out.
What difference does it make?
Obama was "crusading" in front of his house and he had the audacity to ask him a question. Obama or the news people he brings along video-taped it and that is what caused the revelation of the way The One feels and wants to take from the working and give to the lazy non workers

By the way, Joe doesn’t NEED a license to do residential plumbing in Ohio. And he owes about a thousand dollars in property taxes — but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t pay income tax.
Again, though, those things don’t matter. They don’t nullify the borderline-Marxist comment that Obama made to him.

Joe the Plumber is a private citizen, he is not running for office. He was just a guy who asked Obama a question, and Obama answered it. Anything you know about this guy, beyond that, is an invasion of his privacy, I hope he files a law suit after this is all done, he will probably win. Yes, that is true, but it is also very legal to work as a plumber under his bosses license. As far as the taxes he owes, he didn’t even know about it yet as they just came up. But, darn it, the REAL problem with what you said is it isn’t the messenger, but the message. Don’t try to underscore the fact the OBama said to Joe the plumber that spreading the wealth around is a good thing. Joe the plumber is just one ordinary guy and should be left alone. By the way, Joe is also in school to not only get his plumber license, but yes he does hope to have his own business soon.

The issue that needs to be discussed is the redistribution of wealth that Hussein Obama is interested in.
Why does the media need to focus on the cost of republican wardrobes and what spectators ask rather than the candidates for the democrat party?

Also, since the media is questioning the GOP wardrobe PURCHASES, maybe they should look into the gifts of many designers to the liberal socialist democrat candidates.

Joe was not a plant, does not need a license, and I am not sure about the tax issue, but those things are simply not the point. While the journalists were nosing around in Joe’s business they discovered he had a $1200 tax lien on his property that he was unaware of. That can happen to anyone. He was glad they found it because he would not normally have discovered this until he was about to sell his property. He has appeared on Huckabee and a couple of other programs. He is just an average type guy who ask a question because he was thinking about buying his boss’s plumbing business.

A very simple question which Obama gave a eye-opening answer too. Focusing on this guys credentials is so assenine. Then they ran the tape of that interview, it showed that Obama couldn’t have been more cordial. So…….there you have it.
