The Master Blackmailer (1992)

In this made for TV film based on the Arthur Conan Doyle short story “The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton”, Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) finds some of his cases become entwined and have at their root the ruthless blackmailer Charles Augustus Milverton (Robert Hardy) who has brought downfall and misery to numerous members of high society. Disguised as a plumber Holmes finds employment in the Milverton’s house and tries to get hold of the incriminating letters against his client held by Milverton. The case astonishes Dr. Watson (Edward Hardwicke) by its strangness and finds that Holmes is falling in love.
