Granted the person earning $250K+ is already in a higher tax bracket..but doesn't it just make sense that if we can cut taxes it should be from the group earning less then this amount, and not include those making over this amount?
I seriously don't think either of the 2 will be able to give a tax cut…but if they why not give it to those that are finding it harder to make it and therefore spend it?

Of course! His taxes are necessary to pay the teacher's wages. And teachers desperately need to be paid more if enough of them are going to stay in the job and educate the next generation properly! We should all pay tax according to our ability to pay and higher income earners should be humble and thankful to pay their fair share - they have done well for themselves in the land of opportunity, and there wouldn't be much opportunity for everyone else without the things that taxes pay for.

There has to be a fairer distribution of the tax burden because a couple of grand less can spell ruin for someone on $30,000… but not for someone on $250,000 (and that is why a FLAT TAX is NOT fair). The teachers wages still have to be paid at the end of the day and so tax is needed… it just has to be collected equitably and based on people's ABILITY TO PAY :)

Besides, there are still plenty of the deductions and loopholes for high income earners to drastically reduce their tax. People aren't taxed on their gross income of $250K - they offset all their business, etc, expenses against the income and pay tax on the net. And a lot of non-wage income of the wealthy escapes tax altogether.

I think that extremely high taxes should be given to anyone in the upper class and above. middle class, upper middle class, the working poor should be getting that money- it should be re-distributed. What is the difference between $250,000 and $200,000? or $15 million and $10 Million? Nothing. But what is the difference between $25,000 and $40,000?? A lot. Thats a complete change in the quality of life.

I think an unlicensed guy helping a plumber, making $250K a year, should have his door kicked in by the DEA and his home search, because he's dealing drugs.

Persoanlly, I think anyone making under 50K a year shouldn't be paying any taxes at all. But I doubt that would be economically feasible for the government.

ummm….somebody making $250k a year already pays a higher tax rate than somebody making $30k a year. why should they have to pay even more? shouldn’t the raise in taxes be proportionate for/and include both? seriously, if the taxes are gonna’ be raised, let’s raise them for everyone. i’ll be willing to bet it doesn’t sound so good if it includes you, does it?

  18. toughguy2 Says:

No the same tax rate is fair as the person making more will also be paying more in taxes. Just where do these taxes go that the taxpayer pays? Think about it for a minute and you realize that socialism and redistribution of wealth is not fair and it’s not American. A person say taht makes 250 k a year if taxed 10% would be paying 25,000 in taxes and the person making 30K a year if taxed 10% would be paying 3000 in taxes. The rich pay more in taxes and if you make it harder for them by charging them more, they cannot afford to hire people which in turn stimulates the economy!

    Income $250,000.00

    Obama Income Tax 39%
FICA (self employed pay 14% employee pays only 7%)
    State Tax 13%
    Local/County/City Tax 5%
    Medicare Tax 1%
    Unemplyment Comp/Workmans Comp 2.5%

    39 + 14 + 13 + 5 + 1 + 2.5 = 74.5%

UNDERSTAND HOW THE TAX SYSTEM WORKS!!!!

Someone making $250k+ already pays WAY more in taxes than someone making $30k. Even if there was a flat tax of 15% the person making more is still paying more. The US doesn’t have a flat tax though, we have a tiered system where the more you make the higher your percentage.

Since this is politically motivated, let me add that McCain’s plan gives a tax cut to EVERYONE, while Obama’s plan does not (since it obviously will tax the higher income people more). I don’t understand the problem with this. One candidate wants to give a tax cut to everyone and the other doesn’t.

    how about 6% under 50k,,,,,,, 10% under 250k,,,,,,,,,,20%under 1 mil,,,,,, 30 under 5mil,,,,, and 40 % for the rest

and if we knock off 25% of government then we can lower those rates.

  27. Megan T Says:

A teacher making 30K would probably not even be paying taxes other than payroll(social security) taxes and only get a refund which is why when obama says that 95% of people wont be paying taxes he is lying, because about 25% of people already are not paying taxes. The plumber has already based his lifestyle on his salary and existing taxes and possibly employees. He possibly employes others who he would have to fire if his taxes got much higher.
