   Only cold water it routed to the toilet. Flushing drains the water to the sewage pipe. Hot or cold bears nothing to this, its all sewage.

   No the hot water is not ever supposed to be hooked up to the toilet. How could they know you flushed cig's down the toilet? The only thing left of the BUTT is the filter.

   No, the toilet takes in only cold water but flushing things like cigarettes can clog the outtake pipes and septic. Your apartment hot water problems involve the heating unit involved.

   I hope they don't have hot water hooked to your toilet, otherwise it would be really stinky with melting poo! Them turning off the hot water must be for something else don't worry about it. Go have a smoke!

   NOPE, i doubt a little old cigarette butt did any damage unless you have a septic system. More likely causes of plugging is old outdated sewer pipes, femine hygene products, or a kid flushed something they shouldnt have. Never a cigarette .
