I have a plumbing question. Can anyone answer those?
Both of my bathroom sinks drains occasionally emit a foul odor(much like raw sewage) I have cleaned out the traps, but the smells continue to appear mostly when the water is running. Seems as though the problem is most prevalent during periods of heavy, lengthy rain. Thanks in advance to anyone who might have a solution.
Sounds like your vent stack might be blocked. If this is indeed the problem, clear the stack or have a plumber do it, then cover the stack with wire mesh (as I'm guessing a bird's nest).

If you are on a septic system, pour a bottle of Clorox
(chlorine bleach) into your system about once every 3 months.
Pour some in the bathtub drains and all toilets and flush with the hottest water you have.

your overflow is probably allowing bacteria to omit the foul odor. Use 2 tablespoons of baking soda pour down the overflow opening and then a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar. If you can pull the pop-up plunger from the drain you will see 3-4 small openings in the chrome part of the drain. Take a small object and push through the putty in these openings this is more than likely clogged up upon installation and not allowing the water to drain out.Once you are sure that tha opening is clear reinstall your plunger and fill sink so that water can flow into overflow.
Hope this works
