uk - approx how much does a plumber charge to change a pair of kitchen sink taps?
i have bought some taps and was planning on doing it myself but have started to chicken out as i'm worried i'll cock it up
Try doing it yourself. As long as the taps are ones that fit when you turn off the water at the mains you can take as long as you like. If you fail you can always pop back the old ones. Check where you baught the taps that they are the right ones. Some barrels are different sizes. Basin taps are different from bath ones. Don't forget to get taps that are easy to change the washers. Some plumber used taps that I couldn't change and I had to buy a new set. Actually I had a plumber come to the house for another job and asked him to change the washers and he said he couldn't without ruining the taps!

I would say 50 quid call out plus 50 quid per half hour plus parts.
Do it yourself. It will be cheaper.

We had this done about a month ago in Essex and they charged £45 call out and £5 for some parts that were not with the taps. This was for a mixer tap on our kitchen sink. It did not take that long. They did warn me that it would be an extra £30 if he needed to change the pipe size from the ones I bought to the mains input pipes. While he was there he also repaired the waste water for the sink and did not charge any more as it was included in the minimum time so may be worth asking if there is something else you need doing as they may not charge you above the minimum call out.
